My beloved state has made it into the news again for yet another ridiculous school-related event. A fourteen-year-old got arrested for… wait for it… building a clock. Yup, you read that right. He was arrested for building a clock. They released him, but the school still suspended him for this egregious act. After all, you wouldn’t want to praise a child that had the ingenuity and skills to turn a pencil box into a digital clock. You can read more about the whole debacle here.
Call the cops! Last week, the kids and I built a radio. *Insert shock and dismay here.*
Beccaboo’s Mary Poppins-esque jump off her bubba’s bunk bed put these past two weeks into such a tailspin for us that all we could do was hang on. That’s okay, though. Some weeks are made for unschooling.
Our two weeks of unschooling delved us into all kinds of scientific projects including building a radio, making slime grow, and mixing colors.
We also did something equally crazy. We read books. Lots of them. We actually read about two small chapter books a day. I can’t believe I admitted that. I wonder what kind of charges those will bring. Oh well, I guess the school administrator might suspend the kids for a few days. Ahem, Kevin… aka dad, aka school administrator, what do you think?
